The Genesis of Dutch Dreams Records

​

Dutch Dreams Records was founded by Bright Ukpabi, known professionally as Mr Dutch, a Nigerian Afro-Pop singer/songwriter and performing artist. Born in the small town of Otukpo in Benue State, in the middle belt of Nigeria, Mr Dutch grew up in a Christian family where music was a cherished part of life. His father had a deep passion for music, which greatly influenced young Bright. As a child, Bright played the drums at his community church and showed a keen interest in singing, coaching singers, and mentoring other instrumentalists.

During his junior education, Bright joined a musical group called Basket Boyz, which later evolved into 3 Trybez. Despite their talent and enthusiasm, the group disbanded after high school due to financial constraints, having never released a song. It was at this pivotal moment that Bright decided to pursue his dreams independently.

The Birth of a Dream

Bright’s father often shared stories of his travels to the Netherlands, a place where he once found great success. These tales ignited a dream in young Bright – a dream to make it big in the Netherlands through his music. This vision stayed with him, and when he decided to start his own record label, there was only one name that encapsulated his aspirations: Dutch Dreams Records. The label was born from a desire to make dreams come true, not just for Mr Dutch but for countless other talented individuals who share similar aspirations.
